Drafty Barn Farm was started in 1997 as a small farm dedicated to breeding, showing and marketing draft horses. Our horses were handpicked and bred to meet our 3-C Philosophy: Conformation; Character; Color - In that order, in our horses.

Drafty Barn Farm was instrumental in the growth of the spotted draft horse breed and its registry, the North American Spotted Draft Horse Association. After many years of volunteering for NASDHA in positions such as President, Board Member, Secretary, Editor, and Webmaster, we moved away as our vision and that of the NASDHA Board differed. During those years, we bred and sold some of the finest spotted drafts available. We met many great people who purchased our stock, and we are quite often sent excellent updates on their progress.

Due to the recent glut of horses in the market, our breeding program has been suspended until such time as the market recovers. We prefer to focus on our personal horses at this time. We have also discovered the wonderful world of mules and are having a great time learning about them.

Currently, we will be focused on bringing you exciting new content and educational resources for you and your equine friends.
